We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic COOK (part-time temporary/casual) to join our team at the Homestead Senior Citizens' Lodge. In this role, you will be an essential part of delivering exceptional food service experiences by managing food preparation, serving residents, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. Responsibilities
- Serve food efficiently and courteously to residents
- Manage food preparation tasks such as chopping, assembling, cooking, baking, and plating dishes according to established standards
- Support cooking activities by following recipes and safety guidelines to ensure quality and consistency
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas, adhering to food safety protocols
- Handle food items safely during storage, handling, and serving to prevent contamination
- Restock supplies and assist with inventory management to ensure smooth daily operations
- Collaborate with team members to deliver a seamless dining experience, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork
Requirements
- Previous food service experience or familiarity with restaurant operations is preferred
- Knowledge of food handling, safety standards, and proper sanitation practices
- Ability to serve customers with a friendly, energetic attitude while managing multiple tasks efficiently
- Basic cooking skills and experience with meal preparation are advantageous
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations and proper kitchen procedures
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment
- Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
