The Counsellor/Therapist 2 will provide cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) treatment to clients with mood, anxiety, concurrent disorders and trauma experiences. As a member of an interprofessional team, you will provide structured client-centered psychotherapeutic care. You will work in partnership with clients, their formal and informal supports and the team to support clients’ successful integration into their communities.

You will be expected to facilitate individual and group treatment, manage referrals and triage processes, and offer individual support to clients currently attending the service. You will liaise with community health care providers, both within and outside CAMH. Collaborations with community organizations and primary care sites to deliver CBT may also be required.

You will be expected to participate in professional development, including completion of required coursework and participation in consultation. You must be capable of providing supervision to students and contributing to the development of best practices unique to mental health and concurrent disorder treatment. You will be expected to contribute to program development, research and educational activities of the service.

This position will involve providing clinical services in the day and evening and is located at the Queen Street Site. This position will also be required to provide clinical services in-person to OSP partner sites within the Toronto area.

Clinical service provision will also involve virtual care.

The successful candidate will possess a Masters degree in psychology, social work or occupational therapy combined with a preferred minimum of 3 years of post-graduate, direct clinical (psychotherapy) experience in the provision of mental health and/or addictions treatment. As a registered member in good standing with a regulated health care discipline authorized to perform the controlled act of psychotherapy,



the candidate must show proof of registration with the respective College (e.g. College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO), College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO).

The candidate must have competence to perform psychotherapy and experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or other evidence-based modalities (depending on the needs of the program). Certificates/ certification in evidence-based modalities is an asset. Certification in Motivational Interviewing is an asset. The candidate must also be in ‘independent practice’ as it pertains to performing psychotherapy.

You possess demonstrated knowledge and experience in concurrent disorders, mood and anxiety, trauma and evidence-based treatments. Demonstrated ability to work with clients of diverse backgrounds is necessary. Robust communication and interpersonal skills are required to work within the interprofessional teams and to engage with clients, family members, and community care providers.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced interprofessional clinical environment are essential. Knowledge of community resources and discharge planning is required. You will also be able to meet deadlines, and have excellent computer skills and knowledge of technology to enhance communication and learning.

Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.

Experience working with trauma is an asset. Your skills include the ability to make behavioral observations, conduct mental status assessments,



monitor clients’ responses to care interventions and documentation, and ongoing communication with other team members and primary care partners. Knowledge of emergency psychiatry and crisis intervention principles and theory are required.

Knowledge of CAMH and community services and experience with formulation and coordination of complex cases is essential.

Supervision of psychotherapy to students within your respective discipline is considered an asset for candidates who are qualified (or working toward qualifications) as a clinical supervisor. Candidates qualified to provide psychotherapy supervision of clinicians, or to the contribution to teaching of other health professionals within or across disciplines where permitted, is also an asset.

This position requires completion of training for an Advanced Certificate in CBT that is fully funded by CAMH. There is a minimum two (2) year commitment to the OSP program following completion.

Salary Range: $40.25 - $54.24 per hour
