Role Description The Crew Chief is a full-time, on-site role based in Ottawa, ON, responsible for leading a field team in performing disaster restoration and remediation projects. This role oversees daily jobsite activities including coordinating workflows, assigning tasks, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards.
The Crew
Chief conducts site assessments, documents conditions, and communicates job status updates to project managers and customers. Day-to-day responsibilities include operating restoration equipment, monitoring drying and remediation progress, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. The role also involves training team members,
supporting quality control, and representing Paul Davis Ottawa & Lanark professionally in every customer interaction.
Qualifications
- Experience in restoration, construction, or related trades, with the ability to lead in office crews and coordinate field operations.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple jobs, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Ability to operate restoration, cleaning, and safety equipment, and to follow technical instructions and industry best practices.
- Effective communication and customer service skills to interact with clients, teammates, and managers in emotionally sensitive situations.
- Commitment to safety, including adherence to workplace health and safety regulations and use of personal protective equipment.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, standing, and working in varied indoor and outdoor conditions.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation to job sites within the Ottawa & Lanark regions.
- Availability for occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts to support emergency response work.
- Relevant certifications in restoration, mold remediation, or water damage (e.g., IICRC) are an asset but not required.
