Role Description The Director, Account Executives, Alberta is a full-time, on-site role based in our Calgary Office, with a focus on leading and supporting account executive teams serving Alberta. This role oversees day-to-day account management activities, ensuring that member and client needs are met through effective delivery of benefits, services, and programs.
The Director provides strategic sales leadership, setting targets, tracking performance, and guiding account executives in business development and client retention.
Key Responsibilities working with the Account Executives to:
- Manage and retain an assigned portfolio of group insurance and employee benefits clients.
- Serve as the primary relationship manager and trusted advisor for clients.
- Manage new business through internal membership referrals, networking,
and strategic partnerships.
- Conduct benefits plan reviews and recommend design enhancements to improve value and cost management.
- Lead annual renewal and marketing processes with insurance carriers.
- Present proposals, benchmarking reports, utilization analyses, and strategic recommendations to clients.
- Coordinate with underwriting, claims, and client service teams to ensure seamless plan administration.
- Support implementation and onboarding of new clients.
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling additional insurance, retirement, and wellness solutions.
- Maintain expertise in industry trends, legislation, carrier products, and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor account executives, account managers, and client service staff.
- Participate in client meetings, industry events, and business development initiatives.
Qualifications
- Active LLQP (Life License Qualification Program) required.
- CEBS, GBA, or related industry designations considered an asset.
- 10+ years of experience in group benefits, insurance consulting, brokerage, or account management.
- Proven success in client retention and business development.
- Strong understanding of:
Group health and dental plans
Disability programs (STD/LTD)
Life and AD&D; insurance
Retirement and savings plans
Funding arrangements and pooling structures
- Excellent presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
