Director of Events – Flexible Event-Based Leadership Opportunity

North Okanagan Events is expanding, and we are looking for an organized, creative and community-minded individual to lead our events division as our Director of Events.

This is not a traditional part-time job with guaranteed weekly hours. It is a versatile, event-based leadership opportunity for someone who would like to help develop and grow a division within an established local event company.

The Director of Events will help plan and oversee corporate events, community celebrations, fundraisers, festivals, school events and other special occasions. You will work alongside the owner of North Okanagan Events and our other Directors while taking the lead on assigned events.

Responsibilities may include

- Responding to assigned event inquiries
- Meeting and communicating with clients
- Helping clients develop their event vision and requirements
- Creating timelines, checklists and event plans
- Coordinating venues, rentals, vendors and event logistics
- Helping develop corporate, community and special-event packages
- Overseeing event setup, styling and execution
- Providing on-site coordination when included in the event package
- Building relationships with businesses, venues and community organizations
- Assisting with fundraisers, festivals, pop-up events and community celebrations
- Collaborating with the other North Okanagan Events Directors
- Helping promote and grow the events division

The ideal candidate is:
- Organized, dependable and professional

- Able to manage timelines and multiple event details
- Interested in corporate, community and special events
- Comfortable building relationships with local businesses and organizations
- Self-motivated and interested in helping grow a business
- Able to work occasional evenings and weekends when events are scheduled
- Experienced in events, hospitality, community programs, project coordination or customer service

Previous event-planning experience is an asset, but we are also interested in applicants with strong leadership, organization and customer-service skills who are enthusiastic about learning and growing with us. Hours will vary depending on bookings and the growth of the events division. There are no guaranteed weekly hours. Planning work can often be completed flexibly, but availability will be required for meetings, setups and scheduled events.
