Our District & Region Cariboo-Chilcotin School District (CCSD) is located in the Central Interior of British Columbia and includes the communities of 100 Mile House, Dog Creek, Horsefly, Likely, Alexis Creek, Tatla Lake, Anahim Lake and Nemiah Valley.

The School

District is in a vast, spectacular geographic region of the province and is on the traditional and unceded territories of the Secwepemc, Tsilhqot’in, and Dakelh First Nations. The main centers of Williams Lake and 100 Mile are centrally located with easy access to the larger centers of Prince George, Kamloops, Kelowna, Vancouver and Whistler. The School

District has a student population of approximately 4,400 students within 24 schools and an annual budget of $65 million dollars.

The Position The

Cariboo-Chilcotin School District is seeking applications for the excluded permanent position of Director of Instruction. The Director will lead and support district priorities connected to literacy, numeracy, assessment practices, and professional learning systems across the district. The Director will provide leadership and will work collaboratively to improve, implement and sustain evidence-based practices across K-12 learning environment.

This position will start on a mutually agreeable date.

Key Job Responsibilities

Support and mentor principals and vice-principals

Provide leadership in the development and implementation of programs to improve instruction and learning

Review assessment results and provide recommendations to the education team.

Liaise between schools and district with parent/caregivers and community partners

Collaborate with district team and principals on student conduct support





Develops and maintains respectful working relationships and partnerships with local, regional and provincial agencies and organizations

Develop budgets for accounts under their jurisdiction and ensure spending occurs within allocation.

Required

Knowledge, Education And Experience Demonstrated commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.

Recent experience working with indigenous communities and leadership.

Demonstrated experience leading and working collaboratively with educators, school teams and district teams to improve instructional capacity.

Experience gathering, analyzing, and engaging teams using evidence of student learning to inform instructional practice and continuous improvement.

Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills and the ability to work across diverse teams and departments.

Evidence of collaborative approaches to leadership and shared decision-making.

Hold a master’s degree in education or a related discipline and hold a BC Teaching Certificate Recent.

experience in a District Staff position or position of similar responsibility, preferably within the public sector.

Have a strong record of system-level instructional leadership and school improvement.

Compensation The compensation package will be commensurate will the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The salary range for the position is $170,153 to $189,059 and a competitive benefits package and paid time off. Further details will be provided through the recruitment and selection process.
