Position

As a professional Hounds Around Town dog walker you are relied on to provide exercise, relief, and care to our four-legged friends throughout the day. This is a fun, active, and rewarding position where communication and responsibility are a key to success. You are trusted to enter clients' homes respectfully and provide the utmost care for their beloved pets. This job provides an opportunity to develop meaningful relationships with our dog and human clients.

Neighbourhood dog walks and visits generally take place during the mid-day hours (normally between 11:00am and 3:00pm). This job can provide part-time work for those looking for a few additional hours of work each week or can be expanded to a more full-time position with daily private and group dog walks.

Main responsibilities

Dog Walks and pet visits

- Pick up and drop off dogs from home in a timely manner
- Provide dogs with private, on-leash, neighbourhood walks (30 minute, 1 hour, and visits)
- Understand special requests and conditions for each dog
- Give each dog love and attention
- Remove pet waste
- Refresh water, wipe paws, and give treats, as required
- Walk dogs outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ensure for the dogs' safety at all times

Client Services




- Ensure respect and security of client’s homes when picking up and dropping off
- Communicate with clients and schedule appointments (may conduct consultations for new clients)
- Update clients with text message or email after every walk including occasional photos and videos of their dogs

Employee responsibilities
- Keep track of your time and submit to the employer through FreshBooks accounting system
- Manage your own schedule via phone, email, and text message

Who you are

- A responsible and trustworthy individual
- Able to self-manage, adhere to a schedule, and communicate over email and text message
- Capable of walking several hours each day
- Willing to walk in all weather throughout the year
- Available Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
- You own or have access to a vehicle and a Valid Ontario driver’s license
- Hold a Pet First Aid & CPR certification
- Most importantly you have a great love for dogs (and other four-legged creatures)
- Past dog experience/walking is an asset
