About Pegasus

Pegasus is an aerospace and defense technology company developing advanced sensing and alerting systems that connect pilots and aircraft like never before. Our flagship technology, MIDAS, provides real-time flight safety insights to military and commercial operators, enabling safer operations in even the harshest conditions. Backed by major defense primes and government partners, Pegasus is entering a critical growth phase in 2027 — and we’re expanding our engineering team to deliver the next generation of intelligent, connected flight safety systems.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a temporary hands-on Electronics Engineer to design, develop, and validate embedded electronics for advanced aerospace sensing platforms. You’ll contribute to the full hardware lifecycle—from concept and schematic design through prototyping, testing, and production handoff—working closely with firmware, mechanical, and systems teams. This role is ideal for an engineer with practical experience in circuit design and embedded hardware development who’s able to quickly come up to speed and support our team for a fixed, four-to-six-month term.

You’ll help build reliable, low-power electronics that enable flight safety in challenging and mission-critical applications. This is a full-time position for a term of four months, and may be supported by the Mitacs Accelerate program in collaboration with the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Engineering. Key Responsibilities

Hardware Design & Development

Design and develop microcontroller-based embedded electronics for sensing and communication systems.

Implement low-power designs for battery-operated and wireless platforms (BLE, Li-Ion/NiMH, solar).

Lead the development of automated PCB testing and verification systems

Interface with PCB manufacturers to optimize large-scale manufacturing

Create schematics, perform PCB layout (in Altium Designer or KiCad), and support bring-up, integration and verification testing.

Participate in component selection, prototyping, and design optimization for performance, manufacturability, and reliability (DFM/DFT).

System Integration & Testing

Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and systems teams on cross-functional integration and debugging.

Support lab and field testing for prototype systems.

Conduct testing, validation, and troubleshooting of electronic hardware and subsystems.

Quality & Compliance

Contribute to design documentation and revision control.

Support EMI/EMC, environmental, and reliability testing as needed.

Design to meet relevant aerospace and regulatory standards (CE, FCC, FAA).

Collaboration & Growth

Work within a fast-paced, collaborative engineering team.

Contribute ideas to improve product design, efficiency, and reliability.

Required Skills & Experience

Completed coursework in Electrical, Electronics,

Computer, or Mechatronics Engineering

1–5 years of experience in electronic hardware design, ideally for embedded or wireless systems.

Hands-on experience with: BLE or similar low-power wireless protocols

Li-Ion battery systems and power management

Low-power microcontrollers (e.g., Nordic, STM32, TI-MSP430, ESP32, Silicon Labs)

Proficiency in PCB design tools (Altium Designer or KiCad).

Strong understanding of circuit design, debugging, and test equipment use.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.

Motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a multidisciplinary environment. Nice to Have

Experience in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated or safety-critical industries.

Familiarity with RF design, antenna tuning, or EMI/EMC best practices.

Demonstrated ability in manufacturing, test automation, or design for certification and Qualification processes.

Interest in ultra-low power design and IoT hardware optimization.
