Proceed to Checkout Pay Later Cancel Vacancy Postings ◄ Back to All Categories Forensic Counselor - Cortland County Mental Health Department This is a professional position involving responsibility for providing forensic counseling services to individuals that are involved with the justice system. These duties include responsibility for identifying, assessing, and managing problems related to mental illness and disability,



developing a plan of care and their families in need of psychotherapy/counseling services, and consulting with staff and community resource persons. Employees in this class differ from the Mental Health Clinician positions by virtue of their more specialized clientele with leeway allowed for independent action.

The work is performed according to agency policy, practice, and procedures under the direct supervision of the Director of Community Mental Health Services/designee and the general supervision of the Consulting Psychiatrist. Does related work as required.

Work Hours: Full-Time, 35 hours per week, with benefits Salary: $31.2705-39.5804/HR (CSEA Union) Location: Cortland County Mental Health Department Status: Competitive, Provisional Benefits: Recent York State Retirement System, Low Deductible Health Insurance Plan, Generous Paid Time Off Including 13 Paid Holidays, Tuition Assistance Available After One Year, Eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either: Possession of a current New York State License as a Master of Social Work, Mental Health Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, Creative Arts Therapist, or Psychoanalyst; OR

Possession of a provisional license as a Mental Health Counselor or Marriage and Family Therapist; OR

Possession of a limited permit to practice licensed master social work and use the title licensed master social worker; OR

Possession of a current New York State Registered Professional Nurse license and two (2) years of supervised nursing experience in a mental health, behavioral health, or related disability program.

NOTE: Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education.
