Job Summary - FORKLIFT LEAD HAND NIGHTS The Freezer Lead Hand Nights is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all freezer operations during their assigned shift. This role ensures efficient workflow, proper space utilization, staff supervision, and adherence to safety and quality standards. The position also supports other departments and facilities as required.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate daily freezer operations, including shunting, space allocation, and workflow management.
- Supervise freezer staff, including task assignments, job rotation, break scheduling, and coverage for absences.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant freezer and dock environment.
- Ensure all team members follow safety protocols and procedures at all times.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and rider walkies; monitor equipment condition and report or remove defective equipment from service.
- Ensure proper equipment sign-out procedures, battery changes, and documentation compliance by all team members.
- Utilize inventory systems (e.g., Solochain) to locate stock, perform scanning duties, and resolve inventory discrepancies in coordination with Production and Costing teams.
- Communicate effectively via email and other channels regarding inventory and operational updates.
- Stage and load outbound shipments, including managing daily shunt lists and coordinating external pickups.
- Complete and verify all required shipping and shunting documentation accurately.
- Inspect trailers for cleanliness, safety, and temperature compliance; secure loads appropriately and apply seals as required.
- Perform gladhand lockout procedures in accordance with safety standards.




- Monitor racking systems for damage or safety concerns; remove unsafe racks from service and complete required reporting documentation.
- Assign and track completion of cleaning duties, including daily, weekly, and quarterly tasks (e.g., dock maintenance, snow removal).
- Collect product samples for Quality Assurance, R&D;, and management as required.
- Train new employees across all freezer positions; ensure completion of training documentation and sign-off when employees are fully competent.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Previous warehousing experience required
- Prior supervisory or lead hand experience preferred
- Valid forklift certification
- Robust leadership and team management skills
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Effective verbal and written communication skills

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (with assistance as required)
- Extended periods of walking, standing, and operating equipment
- Work in cold storage environments (up to -20°F, PPE provided)
- Average work week of 42.5 hours, with overtime as required
- Physically demanding role requiring sustained focus and alertness

Compensation At Chapman’s, compensation is guided by a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes and rewards individual contributions.

Wages

$28.75 per hour,
