Slave Lake, Alberta Forestry Superintendent - Indigenous Relations As a Forestry Superintendent – Indigenous Relations, you will work with neighboring Indigenous communities to build an innovative and sustainable future, ensuring a healthy and resilient forest ecosystem while fostering strong business relationships.
Qualifications - Minimum 5‑10 years of related experience in a similar role.
- Familiarity and good understanding of Indigenous cultures and history across Alberta.
- Strong negotiation and mediation skills.
- Excellent communication, organization and time‑management skills.
- Proven experience with managing Indigenous relationships, preferably in a forestry context.
- Ability to promote Tolko as a potential employer for Indigenous people.
- Ability to lead and/or participate in meetings with Indigenous partners and communities.
- University degree or technical diploma in Forestry with an understanding of forestry planning and operations.
- Strong understanding of Alberta forest management practices, government requirements and guidelines related to Indigenous consultation and engagement.
Responsibilities - Engage and foster relationships with neighboring Indigenous communities for the Northwest Regional and High Level Woodlands Divisions.
- Arrange consultation and engagement between Tolko and Indigenous partners and coordinate mediation when necessary.
- Provide support and guidance to Woodlands staff by advancing Indigenous community engagement, business development, training and education.
- Participate in negotiation and implementation of agreements that contribute to successful and meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities.
- Act as a key contact on corporate and regional Indigenous Relations committees and community events, representing Tolko to First Nations and Métis communities.
Compensation and Benefits - Competitive base salary ranging from $95,250 to $127,000 per year, based on skills and experience.
