Hours: Weekends/Weekdays (1-2 shifts per week)

Position Summary:

Provide companionship and social stimulation to assigned patients.

Responsibilities:

- Greet and introduce yourself to your assigned patient for the day.
- Spend quality time engaging in friendly conversation, listening to stories, or simply being a supportive presence.
- Read aloud from newspapers, magazines, or books if requested.
- Play simple games, puzzles, or card activities that the patient enjoys.
- Accompany patients on short walks in approved areas (hallways, garden, common room) if permitted by staff.
- Share hobbies or light activities, such as drawing, knitting, or listening to music.
- Assist patients with setting up a phone or tablet for a video call with family (if comfortable).
- Provide emotional support by showing empathy and patience during interactions.
- Observe and report any concerns about the patient’s well-being, mood, or safety to the nursing staff.
- Respect patient confidentiality, cultural backgrounds, and personal boundaries always.

Qualifications:

- Age requirements – 16 and above
- Always maintain confidentiality, respect, and professionalism.
- A drive to succeed personally and to support team success.
- Attention to detail.
- Robust interpersonal skills and ability to work with others.
- A compassionate and friendly approach.
