Position Overview

The Department of Systems Design Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Waterloo is inviting applications for the position of Department Chair. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of a tenured full professor. The role requires a distinguished record of teaching and research, intellectual and administrative abilities, and leadership qualities. The first term of office is four years, renewable for an additional four years. Following appointment, the Chair will continue to perform regular faculty member duties within the Department.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the Department in implementing the strategic plan for education and research.
- Shape the direction of the Faculty of Engineering and guide future hiring for upcoming and vacant positions.
- Oversee departmental administration while maintaining teaching and research duties.

Qualifications

- Relevant PhD degree in engineering or a related field.
- Held or eligible to obtain a qualified engineering license in Canada.
- Distinguished record of academic achievement and leadership.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for the position is $180,000 to $250,000.



Negotiations beyond this range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
