Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Farm Manager or Owner, the Garden & Landscaping Assistant is required to:

- Spread topsoil, fertilize, plant flower seeds, grass, shrubs and trees and perform other duties to assist in the development and maintenance of new and existing gardens.
- Develop flower garden planting schedule for continuous flower harvesting throughout the season.
- Prepare cut flower garden beds for seed/bulb planting, including the addition of organic compost.
- Test and install drip irrigation in cut flower gardens, as required.
- Weed gardens, prune shrubs and other maintenance duties, as required.
- Maintain greenhouse including soil addition/replacement, watering, fertilizing, and pest control.
- Spray/dust shrubs, flowers and plants to control insects and plant disease.
- Set up flower harvesting and bouquet preparation area.
- Harvest fresh flowers and create flower arrangements (training/assistance available).
- Maintain flower cart, ensuring on-going stock of flowers and flower arrangements for sale to the public.
- At the end of the growing season,



prepare garden beds for winter including removal of tubers for greenhouse storage.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: · Experience working outdoors in physically demanding conditions (i.e. inclement weather)

· Ability to work independently and within a team setting

· Good interpersonal communication skills

· Experience using manual and electric garden tools

· Previous gardening experience and/or demonstrated Interest in gardening and flower production

· Positive attitude and willingness to learn new tasks/skills

· Ability to prioritize work tasks and problem-solve desirable

· Familiar with occupational health and safety policies/procedures

· Valid BC Driver’s License.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
