Key ResponsibilitiesStore Operations

- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the grocery store to ensure smooth and productive business performance.

- Ensure the store is clean, organized, well-stocked, and visually appealing at all times.

- Monitor product availability and coordinate replenishment to minimize out-of-stock items.

- Implement company policies, operational procedures, and service standards.

- Ensure opening and closing procedures are completed accurately and securely.

Leadership &

- Team Management

- Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, and develop store employees.

- Create staff schedules based on business needs while managing labour costs.

- Supervise employee performance through coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations.

- Promote employee engagement, teamwork, accountability, and a positive workplace culture.

- Address employee concerns, attendance issues, disciplinary matters, and conflict resolution in accordance with company policies and employment legislation.

- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and employment standards.

Customer Service

- Maintain high standards of customer service throughout the store.

- Resolve customer complaints professionally and in a timely manner.

- Build positive relationships with customers and encourage repeat business.

- Monitor customer feedback and implement continuous service improvements.

Inventory &

- Merchandising

- Manage inventory levels to ensure product availability while minimizing waste and shrinkage.

- Review purchase orders and coordinate with suppliers and vendors.

- Monitor product quality, expiration dates, and proper stock rotation using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method.

- Ensure merchandising displays, promotional items, and seasonal products are presented according to company standards.





- Conduct regular inventory counts and investigate discrepancies.

Financial Management

- Monitor daily sales, gross margins, labour costs, and operating expenses.

- Prepare and analyze sales and operational reports.

- Ensure accurate cash handling, deposits, and reconciliation procedures.

- Support budgeting and implement strategies to achieve sales and profitability targets.

- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.

Compliance &

- Food Safety

- Ensure compliance with all applicable food safety, sanitation, health, and safety regulations.

- Maintain accurate operational records and required documentation.

- Ensure proper storage, handling, and temperature control of perishable products.

- Conduct regular store inspections and promptly address any compliance issues.

Vendor &

- Supplier Relations

- Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors and suppliers.

- Coordinate deliveries and resolve supply or quality concerns.

- Review invoices and ensure received products match purchase orders.

Loss Prevention &

- Security

- Implement loss prevention procedures to reduce theft, damage, and inventory shrinkage.

- Monitor store security and investigate incidents as required.

- Ensure all employees follow cash handling and security procedures.

Continuous Improvement

- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop action plans to improve store performance.

- Identify opportunities to enhance customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and employee productivity.





- Support company initiatives, promotions, and business growth strategies.

Qualifications

- Diploma or bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field is an asset.

- Minimum 3–5 years of grocery retail management or supermarket leadership experience.

- Strong knowledge of inventory management, merchandising, labour scheduling, and retail operations.

- Experience leading and developing teams in a fast-paced retail environment.

- Knowledge of food safety regulations and workplace health and safety requirements.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and retail point-of-sale (POS) and inventory management systems.

- Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) when required.

- Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments as needed.

- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
