JOIN THE HANKKI OPENING TEAM
HANKKI Canada Inc. is looking for a motivated and experienced Store Leader to join the opening team for our new Sage Hill location in Calgary.
As a HANKKI Store Leader, you will help lead daily restaurant operations, support front-of-house and back-of-house team members, maintain food and service standards, and contribute to building a positive and accountable team from Day One.
This position is designed for candidates with restaurant leadership experience. The successful candidate’s compensation, responsibilities, and level of operational ownership will be determined based on their experience, leadership capabilities, and knowledge of restaurant operations.

COMPENSATION
$41,600–$70,000 per year, depending on experience, responsibilities, and position structure.
The position may be structured as hourly or salaried based on the successful candidate’s experience and assigned scope of responsibility.
POSITION OVERVIEW The HANKKI Store Leader is responsible for supporting the successful daily operation of the restaurant and creating a positive experience for both customers and employees.
Depending on your experience, you may lead assigned shifts or take broader ownership of staffing, scheduling, inventory, cost control, sales performance, employee development, and overall store operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Store Operations
- Lead and support daily restaurant operations across front-of-house and back-of-house areas
- Ensure smooth, efficient, and high-quality service throughout each shift
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming restaurant environment
- Ensure compliance with HANKKI operating procedures, food safety requirements, and workplace health and safety regulations
- Complete and supervise opening, closing, cash-handling, and daily operational procedures
- Monitor food quality, order accuracy, preparation times, and customer service standards
- Identify operational issues and take appropriate action to resolve them
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead team members by example and provide clear direction during each shift
- Support the recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and training of new employees
- Train team members on HANKKI recipes, service standards, food safety procedures, and workplace expectations
- Assign tasks based on operational priorities and monitor their completion
- Provide regular coaching, feedback, recognition, and development support
- Help employees strengthen their operational, communication, and leadership skills

Customer Experience
- Lead by example in providing warm, attentive, and memorable customer service
- Ensure orders are prepared accurately and according to HANKKI’s quality standards
- Respond to customer questions, concerns, and complaints professionally and promptly
- Support the team in maintaining efficient service during busy periods
- Encourage appropriate upselling and help the team achieve store sales targets
- Identify opportunities to improve the overall customer experience
Staffing and Scheduling
- Support or manage employee scheduling based on projected sales and operational requirements
- Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, availability, and shift coverage
- Adjust staffing levels and task assignments based on business volume
- Coordinate shift coverage when unexpected staffing issues arise
- Communicate staffing, performance, and employee concerns to senior leadership or Head Office
- Maintain appropriate labour levels while supporting service quality and employee well-being
Inventory and Cost Control
- Monitor inventory levels and support accurate ordering and product receiving
- Complete or supervise inventory counts
- Ensure food and supplies are properly stored, labelled, rotated, and organized
- Monitor product usage, portion control, and food waste
- Review sales, labour, inventory, and cost information when required
- Help improve ordering and operational practices to support profitability
- Communicate product shortages, quality concerns, and ordering issues promptly
- Work with suppliers and Head Office to maintain reliable and cost-effective product availability
Business Performance
- Support the location in meeting sales, labour, food cost, quality, and customer service targets
- Review operational and sales reports and identify opportunities for improvement
- Help implement procedures that improve productivity, consistency, and profitability
- Communicate store results, challenges, and operational needs to senior leadership
- Take ownership of assigned goals and follow through on operational commitments
- Support local promotions, sales initiatives, and company-wide campaigns
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with other HANKKI Store Leaders, franchise partners, and Head Office departments
- Participate in leadership meetings, training sessions, and company communication channels
- Share operational insights and best practices with other HANKKI locations
- Maintain clear and professional communication with employees and leadership
- Support new store openings, company events, promotional campaigns, and special projects
- Assist at other HANKKI locations, events, or food truck operations when required
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least two years of leadership, supervisory, or management experience in hospitality, food service, retail, or customer service
- Candidates considered for broader store leadership responsibilities should have approximately five years of relevant management experience
- Restaurant, kitchen, or quick-service restaurant experience is strongly preferred
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, train, and develop team members
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and decisive in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities
- Experience with employee scheduling, inventory control, labour management, cost control, or sales reporting is an asset
- Knowledge of food safety and occupational health and safety standards is an asset
- Completion of a post-secondary programme in Hospitality, Business Management, or a related field is an asset
- Food Handler Certificate is an asset
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel for work-related purposes is an asset
- English and Korean bilingual ability is an asset
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Willingness to support other HANKKI locations, events, and operational projects when required
