Oxford Learning Maple is looking for part‑time teacher‑tutors to work in our learning centre in Vaughan, Ontario. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with students, love numbers, and are passionate about building others’ skills.
Position Requirements
- Work during after‑school and evening hours (4:00 pm – 8:00 pm) and some Saturdays (10:00 am – 3:00 pm).
- Commitment until the end of the term in June is preferred; continuing through the summer is even better.
- Reliable presence and must be able to commute to the Maple location; this is not an online position.
- Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a relevant field.
- Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered.
- Teaching certification is an asset.
- Good knowledge of the current Grades 9‑12 math curriculum, particularly senior math and including advanced functions, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and vectors.
Experience
- Some experience teaching or tutoring math at Grade 9‑12 (or equivalent) level.
- Robust written and oral communication skills in English.
- Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding.
- Ability to multitask with up to three students at a time.
Responsibilities
- Teach up to three students at a time at different levels.
- Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
- Fill in post‑lesson notes and complete daily student communication updates.
- Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.
