HR ASSISTANT/ PAYROLL & BENEFITS ADMINISTRATOR

Kenway Mack Slusarchuk Stewart LLP Chartered Professional Accountants is a public accounting firm that values the contributions of each of its team members. We have an opportunity for a detail-oriented and organized HR Assistant/Payroll &

Perks Administrator in our Calgary office located in the beltline. Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our team, payroll administration, employee benefits and HR programs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building positive relationships and contributing to an efficient and employee-focused workplace.

Skills and Competencies:

The successful candidate will possess excellent organizational and communication skills, a collaborative team-oriented approach, strong problem-solving abilities, and a positive, professional attitude. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong technical skill set, a diploma or certificate in Human Resources, previous experience working in Human Resources, and PCP payroll designation or active progress toward obtaining one. The following administrative skills will be required:

- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in HR, payroll, benefits administration, or a similar role;
- Diploma or certificate in Human Resources preferred;
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation or progress toward certification is considered an asset;
- Working knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards and Canadian payroll legislation;
- The ability to be detail oriented, use discretion, and deal with multiple tasks simultaneously;
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;




- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion; and,
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities:

- Assist with recruitment activities, including posting job opportunities, coordinating interviews, and preparing employment documentation;
- Coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes for employees;
- Support performance review and employee development processes;
- Manage the planning and execution of firm social functions, including the annual Christmas party, Activities Day, Tax Season activities and other social events;
- Assist CPA Candidates with enrollment and act as the point person for candidates going through the CPA program, liaising with CPA Western School of Business;
- Administer employee benefits, acting as the primary contact for all inquiries;
- Process semi-monthly payroll for salary and hourly team members accurately and on schedule;
- Prepare Records of Employment (ROEs), T4s, and other payroll-related documentation;
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll legislation; and,
- Maintain employee payroll records, including recent hires, terminations, salary changes, and deductions
