This role is more than recruitment—it is about walking alongside community members and job seekers, listening with intention, and providing hands-on coaching and support from first inquiry through to successful hiring.

Working in collaboration with Indigenous partners, leaders, and communities, you will help create culturally safe, welcoming experiences that reflect Indigenous values and ways of knowing, while supporting a more representative and inclusive workforce across the Interior region. The worksite location for this position is flexible and can be located anywhere within the Interior Health region .

Salary Ra nge:The salary range for this position is $76,1111 (min) to $95,138 (midpoint) to $109,409 (max) per annum, based on 1.0 FTE.

Interior

Health typically establishes salaries within the minimum and midpoint of the salary range based on qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employ ees.

How will you create an im pact?In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, the Indigenous Recruiter works closely with members of the Recruitment team, the Business Partner, Indigenous Employee Experience, and the Indigenous Partnerships Team; this role fulfils an integral role in implementing Interior Health’s (IH’s) Indigenous Employee Experience strategy across the Interior region. This role is dedicated to attracting Indigenous talent and enhancing the representation of Indigenous peoples in our workforce, contributing to a more diverse, equitable and inclusive organiza tion.

The Indigenous Recruiter works under the framework of a focused recruitment strategy comprised of four key elements in support of IH’s commitment to increasing Indigenous workforce representation and advancing workforce equity over time.

Community Engagement – creating recruitment linkages with Indigenous commu nities.

Student Engagement – building for the future through recruitment linkages with educational p artners.





Building Organizational Awareness – guiding more effective Indigenous-focused hiring practic es in IH.

Recruiter Activities – marketing employment opportunities to ‘job ready’ Indigenous peoples and supporting all members of the Recruitment team to engage in practices that support IH’s representa tive goal.

Travel is a requirement of thi s posit ion.

Building relationships to attract potential f uture talent.

A solid recruitment team that supports hiring managers in meeting their Health Human Resource needs and supports candidate readiness through guidance and coaching.

What wi ll you work on:Working within an accountability framework, the key responsibi lities include:

Works collaboratively with IH leaders/managers to promote work opportunities to Indige nous candidates.

Provides Indigenous focused candidate sourcing advice and guidance to hiring managers and other members of the Recruitment team.

Works alongside other Recruiters to prescreen and short-list Indigenous candidates as per manag er specifications.

Provides assistance to the recruitment team’s marketing specialists with development of culturally sensitive m arketing materials.

Provides HR guidance to managers on interview and selection of external In digenous applicants.

Provides support and guidance to managers and members of the Recruitment te am around Section 42.

Provides recruitment support to hiring managers of Indigenous specific job postings which includes conducting needs analysis, applicant reviews, prescreening and other recruitment related duties as requested by the hiring manager.

Creates and maintains a database of relationships both internally and externally for the purposes of sharing opportunities, seeking funding supports, and updates that are relevant to Indigenous recruitment.

Participates in meetings and wor king groups as assigned.

Provides coaching and career support to Indigenous applicants and employees, from initial career exploration through to job search, application, interview preparation, and onboarding. Supports candidates in a practical way, including resume and cover letter development, mock interviews, and understanding career pathways within IH. May support or coordinate workshops or information sessions related to healthcare caree rs and workplace success.

Actively advocates for Indigenous representation and inclusion within the organization, ensuring that recruitment strategi es align with these goals.

Maintains effective working relationships with representatives from academic institutions,



professional associations, recruitment agencies and other organizations to further promote healthcare careers to members of IH-region First Nations Communities, to members of the BC Métis Nation, to urban and ‘away-fro m-home’ Indigenous Peoples.

Supports the recruitment team to gather Indigenous candidate and recruitment data and collat es and reports on this data.

Ensures all reporting is up to date including Section 42 reports.

Represents IH at related recruitmen t functions (e.g., job fairs).

In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, employees shall adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times and attend all required training. Employees are responsible to report any identified hazards, unsafe conditions or incidents to the man ager or supervisor immediately.

QualificationsE ducation, Training, and Experience:Lived and living experience as a Fir st Nations, Métis, or Inuit person.

Demonstrated knowledge of, or commitment to learn, culture, protocols, traditions, and ideology of Indigenous Peoples and organizations in the B.C. Interior. Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous worldviews and perspectives of health and wellness.

A relevant undergraduate degree. A non-related degree and experience, in combination with a professional designat ion (e.g., CPHR), will be considered.

A minimum of three years of rec ent, related experience combined with:

Experience work ing in support of Indigenous employees.

Experien ce with Indigenous specific recruitmen t.

Experience running a recruitment desk.

Experience of interviewing and using se lection tools.

Valid B.C. Drivers' license.
