IT Field Technician
Location: Gibbons, Alberta (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a hands-on Field Technician to provide in office technology support for a large-scale construction and operations environment located just outside of Gibbons, Alberta. This role will support a growing campus currently serving approximately 60 professional staff, with significant expansion expected over the next year.
The successful candidate will be a versatile IT professional who enjoys working in the field, troubleshooting technical issues, supporting end users, and ensuring technology systems remain operational in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prior field support experience in the construction industry is required, with the ability to work effectively in active construction environments and build strong working relationships with construction personnel and tradespeople.
- Provide on-site technical support for end users across the project site.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Perform break-fix support for desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
- Set up, deploy, configure, and relocate IT equipment as required.
- Support onboarding and workstation deployments for new employees.
- Coordinate with internal infrastructure and networking teams when advanced support is required.
- Assist with inventory management and tracking of IT assets.
- Document incidents, service requests, and technical procedures.
- Travel throughout the site to provide responsive support across multiple locations.
- Maintain a high level of customer service while supporting both office personnel and construction teams.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in a Field Technician, Desktop Support, IT Support, Service Desk, or similar technical support role.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting Windows-based environments and common business applications.
- Hands-on experience with hardware deployment, maintenance, and repairs.
- Ability to work independently in a field-based environment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting users in construction, industrial, manufacturing, energy, or field-based environments.
- Basic networking knowledge, including connectivity troubleshooting and network device support.
- Familiarity with IT asset management and inventory processes.
- Experience working in large, rapidly growing environments.
