About the Internship

Equitable Bank (EQ) invites Indigenous students or recent graduates to join a challenging learning experience in Toronto with the option for fully work from home. This internship focuses on research into systemic barriers to mortgages for Indigenous peoples and the development of actionable recommendations.

Core Responsibilities

- Work across the various teams within Mortgage Services on a rotational basis to understand key responsibilities of each unit.
- Understand and follow policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Prioritize workload and liaise with internal teams within established guidelines.
- Conduct research on systemic barriers to mortgages for Indigenous peoples.
- Draw on lived experiences to bring awareness to issues impacting Indigenous communities.
- Work collectively with peer Indigenous interns.
- Develop and deliver a final paper/report with findings and recommendations.

Business Group Specific Duties

- Support business group initiatives and assist with day-to-day operations as required.
- Collaborate with team members to identify and implement process improvements.




- Participate in meetings and contribute insights relevant to the team’s objectives.
- Support additional administrative or project‑based tasks as needed.

Qualifications

- An Indigenous student currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a college, university, or equivalent program.
- Business and financial knowledge is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and review one’s own work.
- Ability to source research ethically and ensure proper citation practices.
