The Kellogg Institute seeks scholars who conduct international research on global democracy.

Fellowships are offered for the academic year (August to May), the fall (August to December), spring semester (January to May) or up to two-year postdoctoral fellowship.

Qualifications Most successful applicants will hold a PhD or equivalent degree in a social science discipline.

- In exceptional cases, the Institute will support applicants with a PhD or its equivalent in other disciplines.
- Advanced ABD graduate students may apply, but awards are contingent on their having completed the PhD before beginning the fellowship.

Application Instructions Your Submission Will Consist Of

- Cover letter addressing your interest in the fellowship and specifying your preferred term of stay
- Curriculum vitae with primary publications and awards, in English, no more than 10 pages.
- A research project statement, 6–10 double spaced pages, in English, which clearly identifies: (1) the research question to be addressed, its background and significance within your field, and its relation to the Kellogg Institute's thematic priority of global democracy; (2) the methods you will employ to answer the question; (3) the body of materials to be used; (4) a statement of your expected accomplishments during the period for which you will be a Visiting Fellow; and (5) a very brief statement of your anticipated scholarly product (e.g., an article, a series of articles, a book).

- Three Confidential Letters of Recommendation - Request must be made prior to submitting your application by the deadline of Oct. 1. Letters must be received by recommender into the Interfolio system no later than October 7.
- FOR POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP APPLICANTS ONLY - A writing sample -This could be a chapter of the dissertation, or an unpublished or forthcoming article (maximum 30 pages, excluding endnotes, bibliography, or illustrations).
