Kodiak Tree Services is looking for experienced Lead Arborists to join our team. This is an opportunity for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, values professionalism, and enjoys leading a crew that works safely and efficiently.
As a Lead Arborist, you will be responsible for leading field crews, planning and executing tree care operations, mentoring team members, and ensuring every job is completed safely, professionally, and to a high standard. You'll play a key role in maintaining our reputation for exceptional service while helping develop the next generation of arborists.
What You'll Do
- Lead a crew on residential, commercial, municipal, and utility tree care projects.
- Plan and execute tree removals, pruning, cabling, bracing, and other arboricultural work.
- Conduct daily job site safety meetings and hazard assessments.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with industry standards.
- Operate and oversee the safe use of chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, cranes, and other specialized equipment.
- Mentor and train Apprentice Arborists and Arborist Assistants.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and professionalism on every job site.
- Complete required documentation including inspections, safety reports, and work orders.
- Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and office staff regarding job progress and any changes in scope.
- Assist with equipment inspections and report maintenance requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Several years of professional arboriculture experience.
- Previous experience leading field crews.
- Strong knowledge of tree biology, pruning standards, and safe climbing and rigging techniques.
- ISA Certified Arborist designation is considered a solid asset.
- Ontario Arborist Apprenticeship or equivalent experience is an asset.
- Valid Class G driver's licence. DZ or AZ licence is considered an asset.
- Ability to safely operate industry equipment and machinery.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding work.
