Coupe Beverages is seeking a Lead Barista to support the daily operations of the new Duchess Cafe in East Vancouver, opening in mid-August.

Position: Lead Barista

Location: 1249 Adanac Street, East Vancouver

Job type: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Pay: $27 / hour

Schedule: Cafe daily open hours: 7:30am - 4pm (subject to change), weekends are required. Lead Barista shifts are flexible across week days and evenings.

About Duchess Cafe:

Duchess Cafe is a relaxed and stylish neighbourhood cafe brought to you by the Duchess Cocktails team. The cafe will offer locally roasted coffee, pastries, and a selection of sandwiches. Duchess Cafe will be no tip, instead choosing to compensate employees with a fair living wage.

About the Role

As Lead Barista, you'll be the person who makes amazing coffees and helps to keep the cafe running smoothly. As Lead, staff will come to you for problem solving and you will oversee operations while on shift. This is a great fit for someone who's experienced, organized, and likes to be hands on. This role has potential for Managerial promotion. You will report directly to the President of Duchess Cocktails.

Lead Key Responsibilities

- Staff Support — Train staff and supervise baristas; support the team day-to-day and communicate any cafe needs / feedback as necessary
- Daily Cleaning & Organization — Support on opening/closing routines, maintain cleanliness standards, and keep the space organized and guest-ready at all times, and ensure strict adherence to health and safety requirements
- Reporting — Provide shift results, feedback on any issues encountered,



and items needed for restocking or repair
- Issue Resolution — Provide guest resolution as needed, with support from management team

What We're Looking For

- Previous experience as a cafe barista using coffee equipment
- High level understanding of day to day cafe operations
- Robust organizational and communication skills
- Comfortable supporting a small team and multiple responsibilities
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work some evening shifts
- Experience resolving guest concerns
- Nice to have: Experience with La Marzocco espresso machine and grinders
