Finance PEI is a Crown corporation of the Department of Economic Development, Trade and Artificial Intelligence and, along with its subsidiary companies, is the lead financing group for the Province of Prince Edward Island.
This position is responsible primarily for Finance PEI properties in Kings County, PEI, in particular the Cleantech Learning and Innovation Centre in Georgetown. The proponent will be responsible for the secure operation, maintenance, and monitoring of boilers, heating systems, refrigeration units, and other mechanical equipment at the facilities. This position is based in Georgetown at the Cleantech Learning and Innovation Centre.
Duties will include:
- Operate and maintain boilers, pressure vessels, turbines, generators, and HVAC systems
- Monitor building automation systems (BAS) and ensure optimal performance
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Respond to alarms, emergencies, and system failures promptly
- Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on mechanical and electrical systems
- Maintain accurate logs of system performance, maintenance activities, and incidents
- Ensure compliance with PEI safety codes and regulations
- Coordinate with contractors and other trades when required
- Optimize energy efficiency and reduce operating costs where possible
- Ensure proper water treatment and chemical usage in boiler systems
- Other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Class 4 Power Engineer certification
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade certification preferred
- 1–3 years of experience for entry-level (4th Class) roles
- Experience in institutional, industrial, or commercial facilities is an asset
- Knowledge of boilers, HVAC systems, pumps, and electrical systems
- WHMIS, First Aid, and other workplace safety training
- Familiarity with safety standards and provincial regulations
- Ability to read technical drawings and manuals
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and record-keeping skills
- Time management and ability to prioritize tasks
