Our Orthopaedic

Unit (6 E) is a fast-paced acute care unit within the Surgical Program that practices team nursing model. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to provide high-quality care to a diverse group of patients and families. The unit specializes in the management of acute orthopaedic patients—including trauma, joint reconstruction, and complex surgical cases—while also supporting all surgical services at the site.

This role is an integral part of the care team, providing leadership, mentorship, and education to patients, families, and colleagues. Description: Description: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN must be able to team lead effectively on their own. The LPN works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health.

This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.

Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable Required Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA).

Basic Life Support Healthcare

Provider (Level C) required.

Additional Required Qualifications: 1 year of recent (within the last 2 years) of adult acute experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications: 1year of recent adult acute nursing experience within the past year. Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities in an acute care setting. Excellent patient assessment, prioritization, and organizational skills.

Proficiency with inpatient Connect Care documentation. Successful completion of CLHA courses in administering medications via CVC, PICC, and IVAD, and administering parenteral nutrition.1 year of orthopedic/surgery experience (within the 2years) is preferred.
