Title: Long haul truck driver (NOC: 73300)

Education: Completion of Secondary School required.

Driver's Licence (Class 1 or A), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement required.

Experience: Heavy duty driving experience is an asset.

Languages: Functional English is required and ability to understand road signs.

Main Duties

- Operate and drive primarily tractor-trailor, long-combination vehicle and straight-body trucks weighing over 4500 kg to transport goods and materials over long distances
- Plan trip logistics and obtain required documentation to transport goods
- Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection of vehicle systems, equipment and accessories such as tires, lights and turning signals, brakes and cold storage
- Ensure cargo is secured properly in accordance with safety requirements and follow safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods
- Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
- Administer bills of lading and manually or electronically maintain log books




- Communicate with dispatcher, other drivers and customers using communication devices and on-board computers
- May perform emergency roadside repairs
- Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy

Communication Equipment: Applicants must be willing to learn how to use the following equipment. Citizens band (CB) radio, Cellular phone, Satellite tracking (GPS) equipment Weight Handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)

Transportation/Travel Information: Willing to travel all across Canada and the United States. Willing to travel by day/evening/night including travel on overnight routes, willing to travel for extended periods of time.

Other: Candidate must be legally entitled to work in Canada and must be willing to drive long haul trucks as a two-person team. Functional English is required to understand road signs and fill logbook.
