Reporting to the Planning Superintendent, the Long Range Planner will plan longer term strategies for mobile equipment assessment, inspections, mid-life, and asset refurbishments working closely with Reliability and Mobile Maintenance on supporting Iron Ore Mining operation to maintain the asset life cycle.

Main Accountabilities

Attend daily, weekly, monthly safety meetings and actively engage in safety culture.

Understand the life and operations limitations of the components of the fleet.

Provide technical/operational input into maintenance procedures for life of asset to ensure operational readiness.

Adjust scope dependent on budget constraints and feedback during budget review process and occasionally during fiscal year.

Provide weekly cost forecasting

Update project status weekly

Total spend

Percent executed

Up-to-date estimated return to service

Coordinate with service writers and finance on core return date estimates (part of cost forecasting)

5-Year Plan

Identify equipment that is the highest risk and most needs the rebuilds/refurbishments for the next year

Maintain up-to-date 5-year plan annually

Review oil analysis results with Reliability to determine component life

Present relevant machine component detail to management explaining change out effect, cost and down time. Run a component change out calendar for customer equipment users and budgetary purpose

1-Year Plan

Principle contact and liaison between the maintenance department and operations groups and ensuring assets have an accurate bill of materials for refurbishment and sealift inventory.

Understand our requirement for parts stocking on site. Build RFI’s as required. Request parts stocking changes for any under/over stock requirements.

Provide parts requirements for annual sea lift based on planned MCCs

Order parts in SAP





Ensure all capex work is charged to the correct WBS accounts

Create purchase requisitions for labour support

AFEs

Write AFEs

Work with asset owners to write AFEs for new equipment – asset owner to provide operational justification

Working with Reliability build and maintain an effective system that monitors equipment work hours and indicates remaining life expectancy of machine components.

Update machine hours in the component tracker

Update component forecasting spreadsheet when components fail

Integrate component tracking into SAP

Work with the service writer to update the hours that a component was changed

Scheduling

Create gantt charts in MS Project for individual rebuilds and overall equipment schedule

Host weekly meetings with asset managers reviewing major component replacement schedule

Coordinate with external suppliers on parts deliveries and labour availability

Adjust MCR schedule based on operational demands

Update maintenance strategies and review scope of work, realistic completion date, proper lead time, correct equipment identification, proper costing information, proper authorization, and discuss details with maintenance and operation groups when required.

Actively participate in planning and scheduling meeting with operation partners to finalize priority of work orders for Mid-life and annual refurbishments.

Attend daily, weekly, monthly planning meetings to review prioritizes for maintenance plans for long term actives with other operational departments and team members.

MCC Job Planning

Collaborate with necessary department resources to develop work scopes, job plans, safe work instructions, parts lists for accurate plans for the scheduling and manpower forecasting yearly rebuilds of major assets.

Have a clear understanding of material and budgetary requirements for component change out and refurbishment to facilitate maximum asset uptime.

Identify productive job sequencing for MCCs

Communicate requirement of support equipment in job plan

Create job execution binders for MCC

Continuously improve the job estimate, planning and scheduling by receiving feedback from maintenance supervisors, maintenance leads,



production supervisors, engineers and production planners.

Audit planned work and long range job kits and ensure accuracy.

Communicate with mobile scheduler on execution plans for MCCs

During Execution

Daily meetings during execution, elevate any delays that will cause overspend or a change in the return to service date

Make daily field visits to review MCC progress and gather feedback from mechanics

Identify additional parts lists required to be changed along with major components (hoses, fittings, etc.)

Assist in the continuous improvement of PM strategies

Create bills of materials

Create standard jobs (task lists) for major component replacements

Other/Uncategorized

Work closely with the mobile maintenance superintendent and mobile maintenance manager to provide the service required to maximize equipment and fleet availability

Fill in for Short Range Planner and Scheduler as required.

Other Duties As Required. Main Qualifications

College diploma in a technical discipline such as , Heavy Duty Technician, Diesel Mechanics, Electrician or a related field.

7 to 10 years experience as a trades person relevant to the planning vacancy. Experience planning facility or mobile maintenance

Proficient working knowledge of SAP computer maintenance management system

Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Project software

Ability to confidently present to a broad range of people and able to answer questions accordingly

Planning and scheduling training course certification An applicable facility maintenance trades certification

Compensation Compensation for this position is aligned with Baffinland’s approved compensation framework and current market conditions. Final compensation will be determined based on:
