Role Description The Medical Office Assistant is a full-time, in office role based in Edmonton, AB. This position supports daily clinic operations by greeting patients, managing check-in and check-out processes, and answering phones with professional communication and accurate information. The role includes scheduling and confirming appointments, maintaining patient records, verifying insurance information, and processing forms and documentation.

The Medical Office

Assistant coordinates with clinicians and other staff to ensure smooth patient flow, prepares exam rooms and documentation as needed, and assists with basic administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and handling correspondence. The individual in this role is expected to uphold confidentiality, follow clinic policies,



and contribute to a welcoming, organized, and efficient environment.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong Phone Etiquette and professional communication skills for interacting with patients and other healthcare partners.
- Candidates should possess Appointment Scheduling and calendar management skills to coordinate patient visits and clinic workflow.
- Candidates should possess familiarity with Medical Terminology to accurately support providers and document patient information.
- Candidates should possess Insurance Verification and basic billing support skills to confirm coverage and process claims-related information.
- Candidates should possess Administrative Assistance skills, including data entry, filing, and handling forms and correspondence.
- Additional beneficial qualifications include prior experience in a medical office or clinic, proficiency with electronic medical records systems, strong organizational and time-management abilities, and attention to detail.
- A diploma or certificate in Medical Office Assistant or a related healthcare administration field is an asset, along with a commitment to patient confidentiality and adherence to privacy regulations.
