The Merchandise Planner is responsible for developing a bottom-up inventory demand plan before the launch of a season for Wholesale, Retail and Ecommerce channels. This role partners closely with
Merchandising, Allocations, Supply Planning, and Retail Operations to create an inventory plan and forecast demand based on a top-down merchandising strategy and open-to-buy.
Key Accountabilities • Develop sales forecasts based on historical performance, trend analysis, and merchant strategy based on all channel needs
- Create a bottom-up inventory plan at a SKU, distribution center location, and monthly-phased level to inform total company needs
- Own open-to-buy distribution based on store float, sales requirements, and promotional needs
- Lead post-season analysis work with Merchandising to help inform future line requirements and
SKU rationalization
- Monitor and provide feedback regarding return/exchange rates
- Drive Demand Review in Sales and Operations monthly cycles to identify trends or opportunities based on current information
- Review inventory based on future season opportunities and recommend an exit strategy for slow moving or obsolete product
Key Performance Indicators

- Open-to-buy adherence Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience within planning, allocations or merchandising, forecasting, or financial modeling
- Experience in the apparel industry within a retail or omni-channel brand
- University degree, preferably in math, economics, statistics, business management, or equivalent
- Strong analytical skills and ability to think strategically
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely to a diverse audience
