Nature-Based Pediatric Speech Language Therapist (with some community-based therapy)

*While pediatric experience is valuable, it is NOT required. At Embrace the Rain we are more focused on finding therapists who are a good fit for our practice philosophy, want to learn and grow, and collaborate!

We do mean LOVE…cause at Embrace the Rain, we do much of our therapy in the GREAT OUTDOORS! And yes, we live by our name and embrace ALL weather - RAIN or SHINE!

In this position, you’ll work outdoors providing group or individual pediatric SLP services and have the option of some home and community-based sessions (often still outdoors!).

BUT, working outdoors isn’t all sunshine and rainbows.



It can be hard work!

So, to apply for this position, you need to be an SLP who:

● Is energetic and positive, and can think on your feet to quickly solve problems.

● Truly enjoys being outdoors in all kinds of weather (because we don’t cancel services unless there are unsafe outdoor conditions.) You (or your all-weather gear) will get muddy, wet, cold, hot, etc. cause that’s how nature works. :)

● Ideally, has experience leading small groups

● Loves thinking creatively and would enjoy planning how to blend nature into therapy activities to address children’s goals.

● Can skillfully facilitate children’s development of self-regulation by using a relationship-based approach to behaviour.

● Has a growth mindset and is willing to be honest, acknowledge mistakes,

and ask questions, viewing failure as an opportunity for growth as a therapist!

● Has strong organizational systems to manage documentation, timely communication with families and team members, and progress reporting.

● Has a flexible and positive attitude towards working within a collaborative therapy team. If you identify a problem, we want to hear your ideas for solutions, too!

● Has the ability to stay calm amidst chaos and in situations where the outcome can’t be controlled.

As an employee at Embrace the Rain, you will have free access to the ConTiGO online course (a $2,000 value) created by American Occupational Therapist, Laura Park Figueroa, as part of your onboarding training! Laura Park Figueroa is a published expert in the field of nature-based occupational therapy and created the ConTiGO (Connection & Transformation in the Great Outdoors) Approach.

Hourly Rate: $75-95/hour. Minimum of 6 hours per week (1 day), and up to 5 days (25+ hours) as business grows.

*These hours have lots of opportunities to be more than just 1:1 therapy hours, including therapy groups supported by a therapist assistant, parent groups, consultation, therapist collaboration time, evening or weekend education events, and more!
