About The Role The Network Operations Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the organization’s network infrastructure. This position involves diagnosing complex infrastructure and platform issues across LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless environments, ensuring the stability and security of our network systems.

The successful candidate will lead root cause analysis during major incidents, develop automation scripts to streamline operations, and support network-related projects such as upgrades and patches. Additionally, this role requires mentoring team members, participating in incident management during high-severity events, and ensuring compliance with security policies.

The Network Operations

Specialist will be instrumental in advancing monitoring capabilities, documenting procedures, and implementing disaster recovery plans to support Providence Healthcare’s mission of delivering reliable and secure healthcare services.

Qualifications Education, Training and Experience

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or a related field, coupled with five (5) to seven (7) years of recent experience in networked systems environments. Extensive experience in Linux system administration, Kubernetes operations, and container orchestration is highly desirable. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education, training,



and professional experience will be considered.
- Proficiency in programming with Python is required, with additional experience in Go or Rust being advantageous.

Skills And Abilities

- Strong knowledge of network design, architecture, and security best practices.
- Experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- Familiarity with Cloud Platforms, including AWS and Azure.
- Advanced troubleshooting and analytical thinking skills to resolve complex issues efficiently.
- Proven ability to automate processes and improve operational workflows.
- Effective collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
- Ability to prioritize multiple incidents and manage time effectively under pressure.
- Understanding of privacy and security regulations relevant to healthcare and data protection.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify technical information for diverse audiences.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring team members to foster qualified growth.
- Physical capacity to perform the duties associated with the role.

Preferred Skills And Abilities

- Experience with Cisco network infrastructure.
- Knowledge of JavaScript for developing internal tooling.
- Designing operational automation to enhance system efficiency.

Responsibilities

- Diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure and platform issues across LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless environments, ensuring minimal disruption to healthcare operations.
- Lead root cause analysis during major incidents,



coordinate technical troubleshooting efforts, and facilitate post-incident reviews to prevent recurrence.
- Enhance monitoring systems by identifying gaps, adding capabilities, validating alerts, and developing dashboards for real-time visibility.
- Create automation scripts and operational tools to reduce manual tasks, improve efficiency, and decrease incident resolution times.
- Implement integrations between monitoring systems and operational platforms to streamline workflows and improve system responsiveness.
- Mentor Network Operations Specialists by providing technical guidance, support, and knowledge sharing to develop team expertise.
- Participate actively in incident management during high-severity events, ensuring effective communication and resolution strategies.
- Monitor network performance and utilization, tuning parameters and operating systems to optimize system stability and security.
- Document incidents, resolutions, standard operating procedures, automated processes, and disaster recovery plans in designated systems.
- Maintain and update documentation regularly to reflect system changes and improvements, ensuring compliance and operational readiness.
- Develop and communicate plans for scheduled downtime and disaster recovery to ensure minimal impact on healthcare services.
- Lead and support network projects such as upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities to ensure systems operate at peak performance and security standards.
- Ensure adherence to security policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices to safeguard sensitive health data and infrastructure.
- Create user instruction materials and provide training or guidance as needed to facilitate effective system use.
- Participate in on-call rotations, providing after-hours support to address urgent network issues promptly.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the organization’s operational goals and strategic initiatives.
