Job Summary The OSC Child Care Worker (CCW) is a key member of a collaborative team responsible for supporting the care, safety, and engagement of school-age children (ages 6–12) in a licensed Out of School Care program.

Rooted in the principles of the British Columbia Early Learning Framework (BC ELF) and inspired by Reggio Emilia philosophy, our program views children as capable, competent, and full of potential.

The CCW supports children’s learning and development through respectful relationships, play-based experiences, and responsive interactions that foster belonging, well-being, and engagement. The CCW contributes to a warm, inclusive, and dynamic environment where children are supported in their social, emotional, physical, intellectual, creative, and cultural development. Key Responsibilities

- Report to the OSC Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator.
- Supervise and actively engage with children in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.
- Build positive, respectful, and responsive relationships with children, families, and team members.
- Support children’s autonomy, independence, and social development through play-based learning experiences.
- Assist in the implementation of emergent, child-led programming based on children’s interests and ideas.
- Observe children’s play and contribute to program planning discussions with the team.
- Communicate daily updates to families in a respectful and professional manner as appropriate; formal family communication and program updates are led by the Coordinator/Leadership team.
- Report any concerns regarding health, safety, behaviour, or program operations to the OSC Coordinator or Assistant Coordinator immediately.
- Support transitions between school, program, and home in a calm and organized manner.
- Maintain compliance with LMNHS policies, OSC procedures,



and all licensing regulations.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team, contributing to open communication, shared responsibilities, and reflective practice.
- Support set-up, organization, and maintenance of the program environment as a “third teacher.”
- Assist with snack and simple meal preparation in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness of program spaces, including sweeping, table washing, dishwashing, and general tidying after activities.
- Clean and maintain toys, equipment, and learning materials to ensure a safe and inviting workplace.
- Support set-up and take-down of indoor and outdoor learning environments.
- Follow staff, parent, and field trip policies and manuals at all times.
- Maintain current First Aid and Food Safe certification.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain child-to-staff ratios and adhere to licencing regulations

Qualifications School Age Certificate Additional Qualifications Required Qualifications

- Valid British Columbia Early Childhood Educator (ECE), or School Age Certificate (SACC) certificates
- 20 hrs of Responsible Adult Training or equivalent in accordance with licensing requirements
- Work experience with school age
- Current Emergency Child Care First Aid & CPR Certificate.
- Current Food Safe Level 1 Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid Criminal Record Check completed through the Criminal Records Review Program.
- Minimum 19 years of age.
- Experience working with children ages 3 to 5 years in a licensed child care setting.
- Experience working with school age children in a licenced setting.
- Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practice.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience implementing the British Columbia Early Learning Framework.
- Knowledge of or experience with Reggio Emilia-inspired practices.
- Experience with pedagogical documentation and reflective practice.
- Additional language(s) and experience working in culturally diverse communities are considered assets.




- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence is considered an asset.

Salary & Benefits Wage: Starting at $20.40 per hour, plus the $6.00 per hour ECE Wage Enhancement (for eligible certified ECEs).

Additional Information Hours Hours of work will vary between 2 and 19 hours per week, depending on program needs, enrollment, and staffing requirements. Shifts are scheduled Monday through Friday during the licensed operating hours of the child care program. Staff are expected to demonstrate flexibility and availability to support the operational needs of the program. Additional hours may be available based on staffing coverage, program demands, and employee qualifications.
