Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Pharmacist role located in Ottawa, ON. The Pharmacist will dispense prescriptions accurately, provide medication counseling, and offer evidence-based advice on drug therapies, side effects, and interactions. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing clinical services such as medication reviews and immunizations, checking for therapeutic appropriateness, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and store policies.
The role involves collaborating with pharmacy assistants and other healthcare professionals, maintaining accurate patient records, and supporting inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and handling controlled substances. The Pharmacist will also contribute to customer service,
health promotion initiatives, and the overall operational efficiency of the pharmacy.
Qualifications Strong clinical pharmacy skills, including prescription verification, drug utilization review, and medication therapy management.
Proficiency in patient counseling, communication, and education on medications, chronic disease management, and preventive care.
Knowledge of provincial and federal pharmacy regulations, standards of practice, and controlled substances handling.
Ability to use pharmacy information systems, dispensing software, and documentation tools accurately and efficiently.
Effective collaboration and teamwork skills for working with pharmacy staff, store colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize in a quick-paced community pharmacy environment.
Licensed Pharmacist in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (or eligibility for licensure in Ontario).
Completion of a Bachelor of Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), or equivalent accredited pharmacy degree.
Immunization certification and experience providing clinical services (e.g., flu shots, medication reviews) are assets.
