Role Description The Plastics and Fiberglass Fabrication Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Brockville, ON. This role involves fabricating, assembling, and repairing piping, process vessels, and related components using thermoplastics and fiberglass-reinforced materials according to drawings, specifications, and safety standards. Day-to-day tasks include measuring and cutting materials, performing lay-up and lamination, bonding and welding plastic components, and finishing, trimming, and quality-checking fabricated parts.
The technician will interpret blueprints, operate hand and power tools, maintain a clean and safe work area,
and collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production schedules. The role may also include assisting with material handling, basic equipment maintenance, and documentation of work performed.
Qualifications
Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and fabrication specifications; strong measurement and basic math skills.
Hands-on skills in plastics and fiberglass fabrication, including cutting, lay-up/lamination, bonding, and finishing of FRP and thermoplastic components.
Experience using common shop tools and equipment such as saws, grinders, sanders, drills, and welding or bonding tools for plastics.
Knowledge of industrial safety practices, including safe handling of resins, chemicals, and composites, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Attention to detail and quality control skills to inspect parts, verify dimensions, and ensure compliance with standards and customer requirements.
Ability to work effectively in a team setting, follow instructions, and communicate clearly with supervisors and co-workers.
Physical capability to stand for extended periods, lift materials, and perform manual tasks in a shop environment.
Previous experience in plastics or fiberglass fabrication, industrial manufacturing, or related trades is an asset.
Secondary school completion required; technical training or certification in fabrication, welding, or composites is considered an advantage.
