Insight Global is seeking a Senior Platform Software Engineer to join a leading retail client in Vancouver, BC. This role will focus on building and enhancing scalable backend services within a Microsoft-centric ecosystem, leveraging modern cloud-native and distributed systems architectures.

As part of a highly collaborative platform engineering team, you will contribute to platform modernization initiatives, technical debt reduction, new feature development, and automated testing efforts across four core platform domains: Product, Order, Guest, and Core Event Messaging. You will be responsible for translating technical designs into production-ready solutions, working primarily with .NET, C#, APIs, and event-driven architectures within AWS environments.

This position is ideal for a strong mid-to-senior-level engineer who can operate independently within established architectural frameworks while contributing to engineering best practices around scalability, performance, maintainability, observability, and quality.

A key focus of this role will be advancing automated testing capabilities across the organization. The successful candidate will help develop and scale functional testing frameworks that can be utilized across multiple engineering teams, improving consistency, reliability, and software quality across platform services.

Responsibilities

- Build, enhance, and maintain scalable backend platform services using .NET and C#
- Develop and support APIs and distributed systems within a cloud-native architecture
- Implement technical designs and deliver production-ready solutions with minimal oversight
- Contribute to platform modernization and technical debt remediation initiatives
- Design and support event-driven and pub/sub messaging architectures




- Help establish and scale automated testing frameworks and best practices
- Improve system reliability, performance, maintainability, and observability
- Collaborate closely with platform and product engineering teams across multiple domains
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering practices to improve delivery efficiency

Must-Have Qualifications
- 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on backend or platform development
- Robust experience with .NET and C#
- Experience building and maintaining APIs and distributed systems
- Hands-on experience with event-driven or pub/sub architectures
- Experience working with cloud-deployed workloads, preferably in AWS
- Exposure to AI engineering workflows, tooling, or AI-assisted development practices
- Experience building platforms, services, or systems consumed by other engineering teams
- Proven experience driving automation, process improvements, or engineering efficiency initiatives
- Ability to independently implement technical designs and deliver robust solutions with limited guidance

Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience designing and implementing automated testing frameworks
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools, preferably Datadog
- Experience building dashboards and monitoring solutions
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Kiro, Cursor, or similar platforms
