Lotus Therapy & Counselling Centre is seeking a compassionate, experienced Registered Clinical Counsellor / Play Therapist to join our growing team as an Independent Contractor.
We are looking for a clinician who is passionate about working with children, teens, and families and has specialized training in play therapy, with specific training or clinical experience in sand tray / sandplay therapy.

Availability
This role is primarily in person and is ideal for a therapist who enjoys working with children and adolescents, while also collaborating with parents and caregivers as appropriate to the client’s age, developmental needs, and treatment goals.
We are looking for a clinician who can commit to a minimum of 12 hours per week, primarily in person. Consistent after-school, evening, and/or weekend availability is important to meet the scheduling needs of children, teens, and families.
Qualifications
Applicants must have
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a related mental health field
- Current registration and good standing with BCACC, CCPA, BCCSW, or another appropriate professional regulatory or governing body
- Active professional liability insurance
- Formal training in Play Therapy
- Training and/or clinical experience in Sand Tray or Sandplay Therapy
- Experience providing counselling to children and/or adolescents
- Strong knowledge of child and adolescent development, attachment, trauma, emotional regulation, adverse childhood experiences, and family systems
- Ability to work collaboratively with parents and caregivers
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, documentation, and professional boundaries
- Ability to provide a clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates who have:
- Three or more years of counselling experience with children, teens, and families
- Experience supporting neurodivergent children and teens, including clients with ADHD, autism, sensory differences, and developmental challenges
- Training in attachment-based, trauma-focused, expressive arts, somatic, EMDR, or parent-child approaches
- Experience supporting youth with anxiety, self-esteem, identity development, school stress, peer and relationship concerns, emotional regulation, and major life transitions
- Experience providing parent consultation and family support
- Experience working with culturally diverse, newcomer, and multicultural families
- Previous private-practice or independent-contractor experience
