Senior Accountant – Canadian & U.S. Tax

Location: North York, ON

Job Type: Permanent | Full-Time

Salary: $80,000 – $120,000 Performance Bonus Revenue Sharing Opportunities

Leap Recruitment Partners is partnering with a well-established boutique public accounting firm specializing in Canadian and U.S. tax compliance and advisory services. For more than 25 years, our client has built an outstanding reputation for delivering expert tax solutions to individuals, owner-managed businesses, cross-border taxpayers, and U.S. citizens living in Canada.

As the firm continues to grow, they are seeking a Senior Accountant – Canadian & U.S. Tax to join their collaborative team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious accounting skilled looking to gain exposure to complex cross-border tax matters, work directly with clients, mentor junior staff, and position themselves for long-term leadership opportunities within the firm.

What You'll Be Doing

Canadian & U.S. Tax Compliance

- Prepare and review Canadian corporate tax returns (T2)

- Prepare and review U.S. corporate tax returns

- Review Canadian personal tax returns prepared by junior staff

- Prepare and review U.S. personal tax returns, including complex filings

- Research Canadian and U.S. tax legislation and provide practical solutions

- Assist clients with tax planning and ongoing compliance requirements

CRA & IRS Audit Support

- Assist clients during CRA and IRS audits, reviews, and examinations

- Respond to CRA and IRS correspondence, notices, and information requests

- Support clients through tax compliance matters and government inquiries

Financial Reporting

- Prepare financial statements for owner-managed businesses

- Assist with year-end engagements and financial reporting





- Ensure work complies with applicable accounting and tax standards

Leadership & Mentorship

- Supervise and mentor junior accountants and tax preparers

- Review team members' work and provide constructive coaching

- Deliver technical guidance on Canadian and U.S. tax matters

- Contribute to process improvements and technical best practices

Client Relationship Management

- Build and maintain robust client relationships

- Participate in client meetings and provide trusted professional advice

- Support business development and client retention initiatives

- Deliver exceptional client service through proactive communication and responsiveness

What We're Looking For

- 2–4 years of public accounting experience

- Experience preparing and reviewing U.S. personal tax returns is required

- Strong experience with Canadian corporate and personal tax compliance

- Exposure to Canadian and U.S. corporate taxation is considered an asset

- CPA designation, or actively working toward designation, is preferred but not required

- Solid understanding of CRA and IRS compliance requirements

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Outstanding organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- A collaborative, client-focused approach with a desire to continue learning and developing professionally
