Smith Cree Nation (JSCN) and a sub-office in Nipawin, Saskatchewan. Other facilities

The School
The Bernard Constant Community School is a dynamic Pre-K-Grade 12 school serving
approximately 394 students enrolled in its nursery to Grade 12 Programs, with a
professional staff of more than 30 teachers and a full complement of support staff. The
focus of the Bernard Constant Community School is Trauma-sensitive Programming,
with a full complement of a Wellness Team, a comprehensive Cree Language Program
for all grades and divisions, along with a Land-based Learning Program, a Cultural
Program, a Sports Academy Program, and a Treaty Essential Learning Program.
There are currently no accommodations available within the community. School staff
travel into the community from local towns and cities such as Melfort and Prince Albert,
Saskatchewan.

Practical Applied Arts Teacher
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- a valid Saskatchewan Professional "A" Teaching Certificate or the ability to obtain
one is a requirement. Relevant practical experience in the specific trade or vocation
will be considered; and
- a Canadian Police Information Centre’s (CPIC) Criminal Records Check and a
Vulnerable Sector Check; and
- a valid Driver’s license.
Duties and Responsibilities
The following criteria will be essential considerations in the hiring process:
- able to integrate new schedules and procedures, as and when needed;
- able to provide guidance and direction to all students in various shop projects
undertaken;
- able to teach and provide instructional support to students in areas of welding,
- be able to prepare students for further educational goals;
carpentry, electrical, small motor mechanics and other related subjects;
- current and relevant professional development specific to Teaching Professional
Applied Arts Subjects and related experience;
- embrace strong connections with the community and be open to engage fully in the
rich cultural and extracurricular life of the school;
- knowledge of all Safety protocols and procedures as they relate to the subject;
- knowledge of tools and materials used in related subjects;
- maintains a safe school environment for students and staff; and
- strong collaboration skills with school administrators to work together to improve
student attendance and academic outcomes.
Salary and Perks
Salary/Wages are commensurate with experience. Extended health benefits, vacation or
holiday pay, and personal/sick leave may be available depending on contract terms.
