Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our culinary team as the Part Time Cook. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in food service, food preparation, and working with seniors. The job is for 2 shifts/week.

Our home has 11 independent seniors. The successful candidate will contribute to creating a welcoming environment by preparing and serving high-quality meals while ensuring food safety standards are maintained.

This position is very independent- you are the only staff on site (except for a casual cleaner who comes in twice a week). We are a nonprofit seniors home and our hiring and management is done by a board of volunteers.

Duties

- Prepare and cook a variety of menu items according to established recipes and standards- we have a 4 week menu
- breakfast is continental, hot lunch and supper, you are welcome to join in for the meals
- hours are 9am-6pm (with a one hour lunch break)
- Serve residents efficiently and courteously, ensuring a positive dining experience




- Handle food with proper safety and sanitation procedures to maintain hygiene standards
- Assist in food presentation and plating to ensure visual appeal
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and organizing supplies
- Follow all food safety regulations and guidelines at all times
- Online ordering of groceries & cleaning supplies
- Pick up (when required) of groceries

Qualifications

- Previous experience in food service, restaurant, or kitchen environments preferred
- Knowledge of food handling, safety protocols, and meal preparation techniques
- Excellent serving skills with a focus on customer satisfaction
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced settings while maintaining attention to detail
- Reliable, punctual, and kind

Pay: $22.00 per hour
