The Driver is responsible for servicing clothing donation bins and supporting collection services across Calgary and surrounding areas. This includes collecting clothing, household items, and bottles from businesses and residential locations. The Driver represents the organization in the community by providing efficient, safe, and professional collection services while maintaining a strong customer service focus.
Location:
- Service routes span Edmonton and nearby communities
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Service and maintain clothing donation bins along assigned routes.
- Empty donation bins by manually removing, lifting, carrying, and loading donated clothing and other items into collection vehicles.
- Collect clothing, household items, and bottles from businesses and residential locations.
- Perform door-to-door collection services as required.
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, and donated materials safely and efficiently.
- Move and sort donated materials throughout the workday.
- Assist with the placement and relocation of outdoor donation bins.
- Maintain the cleanliness and basic upkeep of assigned vehicles.
- Ensure all interactions with customers and partners are courteous and professional.
- Follow all safety procedures, safe work practices, and company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Schedule:
- Shifts are weekdays and weekends
- You must be flexible — this is not a “pick your own hours” position
Requirements
- Provide and wear CSA-approved steel-toe safety boots while performing job duties.
- Hold a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract and a minimum of three (3) years of driving history (insurance record required).
- Have experience driving a 1-ton truck and/or truck with a cargo trailer; a minimum of one (1) year of delivery driving experience is preferred.
- Provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Calgary and surrounding areas.
- Travel throughout Calgary or Edmonton and surrounding areas as operationally required.
- Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, numerical, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- Work independently while remaining reliable, flexible, adaptable, punctual, and maintaining a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Regularly stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, twist, reach, climb stairs, and maintain balance throughout a shift.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, pull, and maneuver loads of up to 50 lbs., using proper lifting techniques or team lifts when required.
- Perform repetitive lifting, loading, unloading, moving, and sorting of donated materials throughout the workday.
- Work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions and in warehouse, yard, and community environments with dust, dirt, odours, and fluctuating temperatures.
