Overview The Skin Care and Laser Technician (SCLT) administers professional skin care treatments including facials, peels, microneedling, and some aesthetics services including waxing, eye work, massage and body treatments on clients . In addition the SCLT performs Laser services (Laser Hair Removal, IPL and 1540 scar treatments). The SCLT must possess a thorough knowledge of the skin, have excellent facial, massage and skin extraction techniques, possess excellent cleanliness and sanitation skills and be willing to learn specific facial and laser treatment offerings specifically related to the use of technology.

Also, other important attributes include excellent communication skills and the ability to learn the product and service knowledge necessary to effectively provide wellness and beauty solutions to meet the needs of our clients. SCLT’s must hold a relevant Diploma in Aesthetics as well as specialized training in Lasers.

Position responsibilities

- Performs skin care treatments including facials, peels, microneedling and be able to use devices including micro-current, micro-dermabrasion, ultrasound, RF, oxygen and LED;
- Performs body services including massage, wraps and scrubs;
- Performs Laser treatments including laser hair removal, IPL, and scar treatments;
- Responsible for the monthly maintenance of the Laser machine;
- Assesses any skin problems or conditions and suggests appropriate therapy based on the current health of the client;
- Upholds the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the clinic’s policies and procedures;
- Recommends retail products for clients’ at-home use;
- Ensures clients feel welcome when they arrive for their appointments;
- Maintains clinic’s appearance, sanitation and cleanliness;
- Stocks & maintains treatment rooms according to standard operating procedures and informs front desk when inventory levels are low;
- Promotes and up-sells products and services when possible;
- Ensures a high standard of service is maintained throughout the clinic;




- Assists clinic in activities such as staff meetings, promotions, demonstrations, housekeeping duties, etc;
- Assists with folding of linens used in treatment rooms if necessary;
- Arrives 15 min prior to scheduled work time to ensure everything is ready for the day;
- Leaves room at the end of day ready for the next day’s use;
- Maintains and increases knowledge of product line, and skin /body treatments by attending new product and skin care promotions, in house instruction, and online education/training classes;
- Assists with administrative functions as required including handling phone, appointments, client filing, deliveries, etc;
- Processes payments including credit and debit cards when required;
- Assists in all areas of clinic operation as requested by management;
- Provides ideas for promotions, sales tactics, customer service improvements, etc;
- Assists with social media programs if interested;
- Assist with product demonstrations as required, and
- Other activities as requested by management.

Skills & Requirements

- 2 – 5 years of aesthetic experience;
- Certified/licensed Aesthetician;
- Laser training;
- Icon Laser training and certification is an asset;
- Track record of customer service success;
- Proficient in various skin care treatment techniques and modalities;
- Strong knowledge of physiology, histology and familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the aesthetics field;
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent presentation skills; wears professional uniform & takes pride in appearance;
- Conducts oneself with a high degree of professionalism;




- Highly self-motivated with a strong desire to achieve goals;
- Flexible and adaptable in responding to change and chance;
- Able to work independently yet a team player;
- Possesses a sense of urgency, strong organizational, time management and follow up skills;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel and Word an asset;
- Social media knowledge i.e. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc, an asset, and
- Must have reliable transportation to arrive at the place of work.

Working Conditions

- Ability to attend training;
- Manual dexterity required to use aesthetic devices and a computer, and
- Overtime as required (though not a usual practice).
