Position Summary

Tipi Moza is seeking a compassionate and culturally grounded Social Services / Cultural Support Worker to support residents within our supportive housing program. This role focuses on advocacy, case support, cultural connection, and life-skills development to enhance client wellbeing, autonomy, and community belonging.

The successful candidate will build strong relationships with clients, support social and personal development, and contribute to a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Client Support & Advocacy

- Support and advocate for clients based on their individual needs and circumstances
- Build trust through active listening and creating space for clients to share their stories when ready
- Manage a caseload of approximately 8 clients, ensuring electronic and paper documentation is current
- Ensure clients feel welcomed, visible, and respected within the organization
- Address presenting social needs (e.g., unemployment, racism, poverty) within scope and capacity
- Support clients in developing decision-making, life skills, and personal growth
- Ensure clients understand their rights and responsibilities
- Complete weekly one-to-one meetings with assigned clients

Cultural & Community Engagement
- Inform clients of onsite and community-based cultural opportunities and encourage participation
- Proactively engage clients in activities that promote social connection and wellbeing
- Facilitate weekly life-skills programming for supportive housing clients

Program & Administrative Responsibilities




- Maintain accurate and detailed records as required
- Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Attend and participate in staff meetings
- Complete unit inspections
- Participate in rotational on-call responsibilities
- Complete additional duties as assigned

Organizational & Safety Responsibilities
- Demonstrate commitment to Tipi Moza’s mission, vision, and guiding principles
- Comply with organizational policies and procedures
- Maintain client confidentiality and privacy
- Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related regulations
- Follow all workplace safety policies and procedures
- Participate in required training
- Report health and safety concerns to leadership
- Support a safe environment for staff and residents

Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Social Services, Human Services, Indigenous Studies, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience working in supportive housing, community services, or similar setting
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Cultural awareness and experience working alongside Indigenous communities considered an asset
- Documentation, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage caseload responsibilities independently
