Requirements

Must have:

- We are looking for approximately one to four years of relevant software development experience.

- We value practical experience with Python, JavaScript or TypeScript, REST APIs and third-party integrations, SQL and relational databases, Linux environments, Git and code review workflows, automated testing, data processing and reporting, and web-based internal tools or applications.
- Experience with frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, Flask or Node.js, as well as React, Docker, CI/CD, cloud services, hardware-integrated software, IoT, embedded systems, monitoring and diagnostics, dashboards, cybersecurity, defence technology, RF systems, drones, counter-UAS technology, or business-process automation is helpful but not required.
- A degree or diploma in computer science, computer engineering, another engineering discipline, or a related field is helpful but not required.
- We are open to candidates from different educational and professional backgrounds if they can demonstrate solid engineering ability, learning potential and disciplined work quality.
- For junior candidates, we do not expect complete mastery of every technical area, but we do expect strong reasoning ability and the ability to build accurate technical understanding quickly.
- Applicants should be able to commute to our Burnaby, BC location or plan to relocate before starting.
- Applicants should be Canadian citizens or permanent residents, or provide details on work permit validity if applicable.

Responsibilities:

- We translate operational and technical requirements into practical software solutions.
- We step back from individual coding tasks to understand the full process, system and intended outcome.
- We break problems into clear functional blocks, interfaces and implementation stages.
- We build internal tools, automation workflows,



product features and system integrations.
- We use AI coding tools to research, design, implement, review and improve software.
- We review AI-generated code for flawed assumptions, security risks, edge cases and maintainability issues.
- We design and integrate APIs, databases, data-processing workflows and third-party services.
- We write clean, understandable and maintainable code.
- We develop meaningful tests and verify that the delivered result meets the actual requirement.
- We diagnose technical issues through systematic debugging rather than trial-and-error changes.
- We improve existing software, scripts and operational processes.
- We create concise technical documentation, diagrams and implementation notes.
- We communicate assumptions, risks, blockers and technical decisions clearly.
- We take ownership of appropriately scoped projects from requirement clarification through delivery and verification.
- We clarify missing information, make assumptions visible, raise blockers early, propose solutions, accept feedback and follow tasks through to operational completion.
