Our client, a well-established and growing law firm, is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate Lawyer to join its litigation practice in Burlington. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior lawyer who is eager to build a career in commercial litigation while working closely with experienced litigators on a wide range of complex matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and provide strategic recommendations.
- Draft pleadings, affidavits, factums, motions, and other litigation documents.
- Assist with all phases of the litigation process, including discoveries, motion practice, trial preparation, and hearings.
- Develop case strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys.
- Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, and other litigation-related matters, as appropriate.
- Maintain regular communication with clients and provide timely case updates.
- Ensure all work is completed accurately and within applicable deadlines.
Qualifications
- Licensed to practice law in Ontario and in valuable standing.
- 1-3 years of litigation experience preferred.
- Experience drafting litigation documents, including affidavits, factums, pleadings, and motions.
- Exposure to examinations for discovery and other stages of the litigation process.
- Solid legal research, analytical, and written advocacy skills.
- Demonstrated interest in commercial litigation; a business or commerce background is considered an asset.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.
Work Arrangement
- Hybrid schedule with a minimum of three days per week in the Burlington office.
