St. Francis of Assisi Academy invites applications for the following position:

Part-time Nutrition Lead

St. Francis of Assisi is seeking a Nutrition Lead to join our school. This position is for 4 hours a day, Monday through Friday (7:00am- 10:30am with one day per week ending at 12:00)

The Nutrition Lead’s role is to facilitate the daily Nutrition Program within the school. This level of support coordinates activities related to preparing and serving a balanced and healthy range of food items in a clean and organized food service environment focused on educating students about nutrition.

Typical duties:

- Promotes and supports healthy eating and valuable nutrition through menu planning and safe food preparation/handling/distribution that align with Alberta Nutrition Guidelines for Children and Youth.

- Takes the lead in the preparation of menu plans and purchases.

- Prepares and assembles meals

- Serves and supervises food distribution





- Cleans dishes and serving equipment

- Shops for groceries

- Maintains records of such things as menus, number of daily meals served, purchases, warrantees, etc.

- Educates students about healthy food choices, healthy eating habits, and appropriate portion control.

- Follows the standards, policies and procedures set forth by Alberta Education, Alberta Health Services and Living Waters School Division.

Desirable attributes include:

Grade 12: equivalencies may be considered

- Safe Food Handling Certificate is required

- Experience in food preparation and/or working with the public is preferred

- Criminal Record Check
