Overview

Join our team as a Strength and Conditioning Coach, where you will play a pivotal role in enhancing athletic performance through implementing training programs and providing expert guidance. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work with soccer athletes aged from U13 to U17 (boys and girls). As a coach, you will be fostering their physical development, physical literacy, and overall fitness.

Your energy, teaching skills, and passion for sports science will help athletes reach new heights while promoting a culture of excellence.

This position is centered on athlete development through hands-on coaching, movement analysis, effective communication, and close collaboration with the Neptune Rehab and Performance team. More than simply leading training sessions, this is a performance coaching role that requires the ability to assess movement quality, identify areas for improvement, provide effective technical feedback, and help athletes develop safe, efficient, and high-performing movement patterns relevant to soccer. Success in this role depends on strong observational skills, clear communication, and a commitment to long-term athletic/soccer development.

Contract Details

- Job Location: Burlington, ON
- Duration: November 2026-May 2027
- Compensation: $25-45/hr (depending on level of experience)
- Hours per week: 5-10

Main Responsibilities

- Deliver tailored strength and conditioning programs that align with sport-specific demands
- Lead engaging training sessions focused on improving strength, speed, agility, endurance, and injury prevention
- Educate athletes on proper exercise techniques, safety protocols,



and recovery strategies to maximize results and minimize risks
- Maintain detailed records of training session attendance and progress
- Foster a motivating environment that encourages discipline, teamwork, and a positive attitude toward fitness

Technical Elements

- Deliver technical coaching in sprint mechanics, acceleration, maximum velocity, change of direction, and endurance running techniques.
- Coach proper jumping, landing, deceleration, and overall movement mechanics to enhance athletic performance and reduce injury risk.
- Support the development of strength, power, speed, and athleticism through evidence-based coaching practices.
- Observe and identify movement inefficiencies, biomechanical compensations, injury-risk factors, and performance limitations.
- Provide clear, concise, and age-appropriate coaching cues that promote skill acquisition, movement quality, and athlete confidence.

Athlete Assessment and Progress Tracking

- Conduct ongoing assessments of athlete movement quality, physical performance, and training execution.
- Accurately document athlete observations, performance metrics, and relevant training notes in a timely manner.
- Communicate athlete progress, performance trends, and key observations to the Head Strength & Conditioning Coordinator.




- Collaborate with the coaching team by sharing athlete needs, physical limitations, injury considerations, and developmental priorities to ensure a consistent, athlete-centered approach.

Facility Upkeep

- Maintain a safe, organized, and qualified training environment by assisting with equipment setup, inspection, and proper storage.
- Contribute to the cleanliness, organization, and overall presentation of the facility before, during, and after training sessions.
- Uphold the highest standards of athlete care, safety, and professionalism by promoting a positive, respectful, and performance-focused training environment.

Recommended Qualifications

- Education in Kinesiology, Human Kinetics, Exercise Science, or another related field
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, exercise physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, and injury prevention techniques
- Experience in running, sprinting, strength, and/or endurance training
- Competitive athletic experience as an athlete or coach (preferably soccer)
- Experience working with youth athletes (preferably soccer)
- Excellent communication and inspirational skills to motivate participants of all ages
- Leadership qualities with the ability to manage groups effectively
- Certification from recognized organizations such as CSEP (Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology), CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) or NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association) is preferred
