Stage Manager - BISQC

We are looking to hire for the following term position

- August 24 - September 8, 2026

The Opportunity

Banff Centre is looking for a Stage Manager who can work collaboratively to provide technical stage support for performances as part of the Banff International String Quartet Festival (BISQF)

Specific Accountabilities

Reporting to the Technical Director, some key responsibilities include:

- Liaise with the Technical Director and Production Manager, Banff Centre staff, faculty, and performers to ensure all show elements are planned for and executed during the performances
- Act as the main liaison between program faculty, participants, and Banff Centre staff to ensure all preshow and rehearsal elements are planned for and executed
- Prepare and distribute schedules: rehearsals, production, tech, and performance schedules including technical requirements
- Ensure all performers and related show personnel are aware of their daily schedules
- Attend and run all relevant rehearsals
- Work with related staff to ensure all details for special activities (media calls or runs with photographers, etc.) are planned out




- Communicate with the Audience Services team to ensure all relevant performance details have been discussed and planned for
- Prior to performances, ensure that all performers and crew are present and ready, that necessary equipment and staging requirements are ready, that house is prepared to open and that all technical elements have been checked
- Working with appropriate personnel, be aware of your role and responsibilities regarding emergency procedures
- After the performance, transparent the stage of performer belongings, music scores etc. as assigned
- Prepare and distribute the show report
- Be responsible for and confident in calling shows
- Prepare calling scripts and show binders

Qualification and Educational Requirements

- Must have experience with stage managing high quality and professional events
- Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to stay calm under pressure
- Able to work with tight, changing timelines in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledgeable of related industry trends including the application of up to date techniques
- Able to apply professional theatre techniques and methods to provide the quality, efficiency and support required by artists performing at the Banff Centre

Special Requirements

- Due to the nature of the job, this position requires the candidate to be available to work a flexible, irregular schedule and weekends.

Employment Terms & Benefits

- In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, unconventional support staff position, subject to a 500-hour probationary period.
- This position pays $1445 per week, working approximately 40 hours per week.
- We are hiring for the term position: August 24 - September 8, 2026
