Senior Manager - Corporate Tax
KAD Consulting Services (KAD) is looking for a highly experienced and strategic Senior Manager - Corporate Tax who can independently manage complex tax engagements, oversee a team of accounting professionals, and provide a detailed l tax planning and advisory services to corporate and individual clients. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, extensive experience in Canadian taxation, and the ability to manage multiple client relationships while delivering exceptional client service. The responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage all taxation-related matters within the firm including corporate, personal, trust, and NPO tax compliance and planning.
- Prepare, review, and oversee corporate and personal tax filings including T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, NR4, GST, payroll filings, and related elections.
- Provide advanced tax planning services including restructuring, reorganizations, remuneration strategies, estate and succession planning, and generational tax planning.
- Manage and review complex tax engagements, ensuring compliance with Canadian tax laws, accounting standards, and CRA requirements.
- Act as the primary advisor and relationship manager for a portfolio of corporate and individual clients.
- Analyze financial statements, tax returns, ratios, variances, and business operations to provide strategic financial and tax advice.
- Assist clients during CRA audits, reviews, objections, and correspondence while ensuring timely and professional responses.
- Supervise, mentor, train, and review the work of Accountants, Senior Accountants, and junior staff members.
- Conduct internal tax training sessions and provide updates on changes to tax legislation and accounting standards.
- Develop and improve internal tax processes, compliance procedures, and workflow efficiencies.
- Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and business planning documents.
- Collaborate with management on firm growth initiatives, client development, and service expansion opportunities.
- Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication, exceptional service, and strategic advisory support.
- Participate in client presentations, seminars, and business development initiatives.
- Ensure confidentiality, professionalism, and high ethical standards in all client and firm engagements.
Skills required:
- Extensive knowledge of Canadian corporate and personal taxation.
- Strong experience with tax planning, reorganizations, and compliance services.
- Thorough understanding of Canadian GAAP, accounting standards, and financial reporting requirements.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to independently manage complex tax files and multiple deadlines during busy tax seasons.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience handling CRA audits, objections, and regulatory correspondence.
- Advanced proficiency with tax and accounting software including TaxPrep, Caseware, QuickBooks, Sage, and Profile.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to mentor and develop junior accounting staff.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced workplace.
Experience:
The ideal candidate must have 5+ years of experience with complex accounting transactions, detailed analysis of general ledger, and comprehensive understanding of Canadian GAAP.
The ideal candidate must be able to prepare, review complex accounting and financial statements for mid sized to large clients in different industry sectors The ideal candidate must have experience managing a team of accountants.
The ideal candidate must have experience in tax planning for corporate taxes and personal taxes.
The ideal candidate must have 7-10 years of experience working in a Canadian accounting firm.
The ideal candidate must be able to understand, review, train, and coach team members on accounting and financial statements.
The ideal candidate must also have experience in the following areas:
- Canadian Corporate Tax (T2): 7+ years (required)
- Canadian Personal Tax (T1): 5+ years (required)
- Tax planning and reorganizations: 5+ years (required)
- Public practice accounting experience: 7+ years (required)
- Managing client portfolios and relationships: 3+ years (required)
- Supervising and managing accounting staff: 5+ years (preferred)
- CRA audits and compliance support: 5+ years (preferred)
- Financial statement preparation and review: 5+ years (required)
Education & Certifications:
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) designation required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field.
- Advanced tax courses or specialized tax certifications considered an asset.
