Job Title: Lead Hand - Welding Night Shift
Note: This role is a Night Shift Position and will pay a Night Shift Premium of $2.20 per hour
Wage Range: $27.00 - $36.00
Job Summary:
The Welding Lead Hand is responsible for overseeing and coordinating day-to-day operations on the production floor while completing Welding specific tasks. This role serves as the link between the production supervisor/manager and the production team, ensuring the efficient, safe, and high-quality manufacturing of products.
Responsibility:
- Read, understand, and follow job order specifications, engineering drawings (blueprints), and or work orders.
- Independently weld multiple components with precision and accuracy, showcasing proficiency in executing welding tasks without direct supervision.
- Set up all welding equipment and jigs in accordance with the specific material properties and welding requirements, ensuring optimal performance output.
- Fabricate small parts as needed, showcasing proficiency in basic fabrication techniques utilizing equipment such as the ironworker, drill, and saw.
- Oversee day-to-day operations on the production floor, ensuring that production goals, schedules, and quality standards are met
- Provide leadership to a team of production workers, including assigning tasks, managing workflow, and ensuring adherence to production schedules
- Offer guidance and on-the-job training to new and existing team members, communicating training needs to production supervisor
- Troubleshoot minor production issues and collaborate with production supervisor for more complex problems
- Monitor product quality and ensure all items produced meet established standards taking corrective action when required to prevent recurrence
- Assist the production supervisor in preparing reports on production performance, resource usage, and other relevant metrics
- Participate in plant opening and lockup procedures as required
- Ensure adherence to company policies, health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Other duties as assigned by production supervisor
Academic/Educational Requirements:
- A high school education diploma or certificate is preferred
Required Skills/Experience:
- 1-3 years of manufacturing experience is required
- 3-5 Years of Welding Experience is considered an asset
- 1-2 years in a leadership role is considered an asset
- Familiarity with manufacturing equipment, safety standards, and quality control procedures
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent leadership skills
- Robust organization, time management and planning skills
- Proficiency in basic computer software (Microsoft Office, ERP systems etc.)
- First aid certified
